My native is near araavi beach in district Raigad, Maharashtra.
Positives about location:
Off season during monsoon so cheaper hotel rates.
Nearest location amongst all listed by Rohit.
Negatives about the location:
During monsoon the beaches are not clean and sea water is dirty as well.
It rains heavily in the area so the activities will be confined to indoors.
Bad roads as Mumbai-Goa highway (appox. 140 km ride) is under expansion. Interior roads are bad too.

I suggest you that explore these locations.
Raigad fort
Tahmini ghat or mulshi area
One way distance for these locations will be approx 200-250km from Mumbai.

Have a great monsoon ride

Cheers

Consider Saputara, it's a Hill station and good place on Gujarat Maharashtra border. Monsoon is a really good season to be there.

I think you guys can easily make for it for 1 night stay.
